Relationships shape how we see ourselves and how we move through the world. Humans need connections and all forms of relationships have an impact on our lives. The experiences we had growing up often influence how we communicate, trust, manage conflict, and connect with others as adults.
We'll identify what's no longer serving you and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and the people who matter most.
I don't believe therapy is one-size-fits-all. Instead, I tailor each session to your unique needs, drawing from different approaches to help you reach your goals.
Our work together may focus on:
-
Managing anxiety and depression
-
Improving communication
-
Building healthier relationships
-
Understanding how past experiences influence current patterns
-
Increasing emotional awareness
-
Developing practical coping strategies
-
Navigating life transitions
You may also be wondering how long therapy will take before “it works” or “how do I know if I’m making progress?” I like to answer very honestly: There is no standard length of time before you see growth and change. It depends on what your goals are, what challenges you bring to therapy, and how much reflection you do outside of therapy. I am always open to discussing this with you, and want to make sure you feel comfortable with your process and involvement in therapy. This is ultimately your journey and no else’s.
Many couples wait until they're in crisis before reaching out. But you don't have to wait until things feel hopeless.
Whether you're experiencing frequent conflict, struggling after a betrayal, feeling emotionally disconnected, or simply wanting to strengthen your relationship, couples therapy can help you understand the patterns that keep you stuck.
I primarily use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), an evidence-based approach that helps couples identify the emotions driving conflict and create stronger, more secure connections. I also incorporate practical communication and relationship tools from the Gottman Method when they fit your needs. My approach is to use all of the tools I have available to best assist your relationship. See below for some resources I recommend.
I welcome diversity of individuals and couples, including the LGBTQIA+ community and relationships that are non-traditional like Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM).
No matter where your relationship is today, we'll begin there—with compassion, honesty, and without judgment. Additionally, if you or your partner is reluctant to try therapy, I encourage you to schedule a free consultation to learn more.
