About

Laurie Nathan-Furtuna
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia providing online therapy for individual adults and couples. I primarily work with clients navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, anxiety, emotional struggles, and patterns that may be impacting their personal and professional relationships. I welcome diversity of individuals and couples, including the LGBTQIA+ community and relationships that are non-traditional.
I believe that meaningful therapy begins with connection. I take time to understand each client's unique story—both past and present—so we can explore what is keeping you stuck, build on your strengths, and create opportunities for healing and growth.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I bring curiosity, honesty, and compassion to our work together while also being willing to explore difficult topics when they arise.
My Background
Before becoming a therapist, I worked in child advocacy and prevention for many years at nonprofit organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. This experience shaped my understanding of resilience, relationships, and the ways early experiences can influence our lives.
I earned my master's degree in social work from George Mason University and my undergraduate degree in psychology from Emory University. I have also worked at The Women's Center in Vienna, Virginia, supporting individuals and couples through a wide range of personal and relationship challenges.
I am a licensed clinical social worker in Virginia who works primarily with individual adults struggling in their relationships (personal and professional) and all forms of couples. I approach each client with warmth and connection and appreciate getting to know each and every client’s story–past and present–in order to help them heal and grow.
